To Robert Hillier - re Hilliers in England

I have not come across Frederick James or Frank yet - I am in the early stages of my work and need some particular software in order to unzip files I have downloaded so far. I have also circulated all living relatives to accumulate some basic information on which to search.

Please e-mail me with your own address. As and when I make progress I will let you know.

There were a vast number of Hilliers at Heddington, Shaftesbury, All Cannings and Bishops Cannings in England. I am trying to find a link between them all.

The name Hillier also presents a problem because it was corrupted to Hillyard, Hilliard or Hiller, sometimes within the same family.

Regards

Hilliers--Clio/Montrose area

Hey. We could be related! My Hillier relatives came from the Montrose/Clio, MI area but originally came from Canada. I believe there were: Robert H., Isaac F., George, and Solomon.

I was born in Paterson, NJ. What I have on my Hillier line starts with Joseph Hillier b. England 1820 - 1830 m. to Ann Hevyside (sp?) also b. England. Their son was Frank (Francis) Hillier who was born in England in May, 1852. He imigrated to the USA ~1875 and married Delia Ward in 1888. Children were Alfred J. Hillier b. Jan, 1890 Chares Bergen ( My Father), Francis Ward, Grace and Florence. Do you have any other info????

Dear Cousin Art, Thanks for responding to my message. Your father's brother, Alfred J. Hillier, was my grandfather. He was a well known vaudeville comedian in Paterson who died in 1949 before I was born. My grandfather had 3 sons, Albert J. Hillier (my father who died in 1993), Ken and Don Hillier who are both living in Orlando Florida (and have since the late 1940's. Your Uncle Francis had two sons, Bob Hillier (who is now living in Whorton NJ with his wife Marion) and Roland who was killed in a plane crash while serving in the airforce in Texas in the 1940's. I was also born in Paterson and grew up in North Haledon. Do you have any other information on your grand parents or great grandparents? I was told by my Uncles Ken and Don that Frank Hillier owned a tavern on Main Street in Paterson and that he use to work for the London Times newspaper. I have contacted the Paterson Public Library but they were unable to find any records on him. I am currently working on tracing the Hillier family tree and I would love to be able to talk to you in greater detail about our family. Last January my wife Ann and I were in Orlando visiting my sister Susan and Uncle Ken and Don. About a month ago I also spoke with Cousin Bob Hillier in Whorton (Baronfitz@aol.com). I am currently live in Portland Oregon annbob@teleport.com). Send me your e-mail address so we can correspond more about our family.

Hello Dave,
Thank you for the information you sent. I am not sure if I can link any of this to my family tree. I am finding this is quite an undertaking especially when I do not have much info to go on to begin with. Maybe information starting with later generations would be more benificial and work myself backwards. Feel free to email me. Thanks, Sarah
