Is any one researching Henry B. Hallowell. I have in old pictures of the family that were given to me, a picture of this man in military uniform. The back states:
Sargt Henry B. Hallowell 86 years of age. The oldest Leatherneck Marine and veteran of many wars, is now home in Phila. after 66 yrs of travel where he enlisted May 28, 1860. Gives more military info and tells at the end how his ancestors came to Phila. in 1681 and a brief description. I was also told he was related to us, I don't know how it would be, most likely through the Bechtel/Pomroy's of Philadelphia. I would gladly make a copy of this and share it with you if you are researching this line.

Thanks for all the Hallowell information. I appreciate it. I am trying to tie Henry B. into my father's side of the family. I did not find a familiar name in the info you supplied....unfortunately. Henry B's picture was in my great grandmother's items. She was a Pomroy who married a Bechtel. Other names associated with this line so far James Mann, and possibly NEWELL. Many of the children had NEWELL for middle names so I am assuming it is connected to a NEWELL family. On the Bechtel side the other names associated with this line so far McNamee and possibly Oliver and Holland. Oliver Holland was my great grandfather's middle name so again I am assuming a family connection.
It was told to me that he was an uncle to my great grandfather Charles O.H. Bechtel who was born Phila. PA

It looks like to me that you have your hands full just like the rest of us.

You Sent me a picture of the postcard. Have you ever had the opportunity to look at a copy of "The Hallowell-Paul Family History" published in 1924? There in a "Mann" mentioned.

No I have never seen a copy of the book. Do you know what MANN is listed, are they from PA. Do you know where I can get a copy? Maybe that is where my connection lies with Hallowell is thru the MANN line. Thanks for getting back to me
