I do not think I have a photo of the grave marker for Frances and John Parr. I have been working from some hand-written notes I made when I visited the cemetery. I think I have some material on Harry Parr. I'll try and locate it. I think I remember that he was an innkeeper.

General Notes: James Jones migrated from Ireland to Prince Edward County of Upper Canada
about 1820 (See Pioneer Life on the Bay of Quinte, pp. 447-452).
James Jones was confirmed on 16 July 1840 in St John's Church, Carrying Place, Murray
Township, Northumberland County, Upper Canada by John Strachan, Bishop of Toronto. James
was 42 years old. Five or six other adults were confirmed at the same
time.
On 15 October 1847 James Jones received the NW 1/4 of Lot No 14, Second Concession Lake Side,
Hillier Township as a grant from the Crown (Instrument Patent).
A will was made for James Bell Jones on 13 November 1858. The executors were Thomas White
(son-in-law) and Francis B Jones (son). When this will was drawn up James Jones owned the west
half of Lots 82 and 83 Sixth Concession and lands adjoining
in the Fifth Concession. This land was willed to his sons Robert and George Jones.

I am looking for info on my g grandfather James Jolly who I think is in Lennox Addington County in the 1851 census. He came to Canada in 1842. His father's name was Thomas and his Mother's name was Elizabeth. I do not know if he came with his family or if he came alone. Ellen may be his sister, or not.

I too am descended from the Stephen Henry JONES/Ellen Jane JOLLY marriage.

My great-grandfather David JONES is one of their children, born in Bowmanville, ON.

I have never been able to find out what happened to Stephen and Ellen after David's birth. They lived in Hillier in 1851, according to the census - Ellen was age 13, Stephen was age 19. It would appear that this JOLLY family consisted of David (44), Margaret (44), Rachael C. (18), David (16), Ellen Jane (13), Margaret E. (11), John W. (10), Nathaneal (7), Mary Ann (5), Benjamin (3), so don't know if they connect to yours or not.

Stephen and Ellen married in Hastings City, ON, in Victoria District on 23 March 1855. Their children were born from late 1850's through the 1870's.

I know that David left home at a fairly young age to come to the western US and "become a cowboy" according to family lore. He ended up doing lots of odd jobs through the rest of his life, but never said much about his youth.

I have located a marriage record of a sister of David's, Mary Bell JONES, who married (second marriage) in Mills County, Iowa, in 1882, but then she disappears from my records.

My grand-aunt (David's daughter) remembers another sister of David's, Carrie (married name Damon), coming out to Washington state for a visit around the 1920's, but I could never track her down either. She supposedly lived in the northeastern US.

I have heard of other children of Stephen and Henry's: Francis, John, and Annie. Family lore indicates that there was a "Jack", which may be the John mentioned here.

Sorry to be so longwinded, but I want to leave as many threads as possible, to maximize the chance of somebody tugging one. I know very little of my JONES history prior to David, and would like to know more.

Sorry, I have no further information about Ellen Jolly. Most of that post comes from secondary sources and not from research I have done. I am researching the James Jones and Harriet Parr line.

I now have a copy of the death certificate for Joseph Henry Parr (1854-1929)and I think I am close to linking up Joseph with the Parrs I am rsearching.

The death certificate for Joseph Parr states that he was of English racial origin, he was born in New York, USA and he had been a labourer for 20 years. The certificate also states that the father of Joseph was Joseph Parr and he was born in the USA and his mother was Mary Gerow who was also born in the USA. The certificate states that Joseph died of pulmonary tuberculosis and he had been treated for six months by a medical practioner. The informant for this information was his wife Lydia Parr of Bloomfield, Hallowell Township, Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada.

After 20 years, I've traced my Parr family back to Wellington in Prince Edward County, at least for a time when Joseph Erastus Parr and his wife Ruth Clemenda Bennett has a number of children: Daniel, c1826; Joseph Henry, 11-Apr-1827; Margaretha, 1831; Ruth Ann, 1832; Samuel, 1836; Corey [male}, 1836; Susan E, 1837; Erastus Charles, 1841; Theodora, 1842; Elizabetha, 1945; plus others born in Wisconsin.
I'm hoping you may have notes that will help me. I believe my ancestor Joseph Henry Parr (1817-1913) came from a fairly large family and there will be repetition of family names as I've laid out above.

I'd appreciate hearing from you or another reader for the exchange of information.

After WI, Joseph Henry Parr was in MN, MT, CA and WA in an variety of sequences. There is also an unsubstantiated rumor that he freighted from St Joseph to California from c1860 to c1880, although it appears he farmed in WI and MN. One of his brothers, Erastus, ended up in Texas.

David, I would be pleased to exchange information with you by email. I am not keen to post much of what I have until I have further verification of some of it.

Joseph Parr (1788-1858) is probably the older brother of my gg grandfather Amos Parr (1808-1887). I have a fair bit on the descendants of Joseph Parr including John Henry Parr.
