My John was born 1775 and married Elizabeth Green in 1796, they did not have a daughter called Susan. I do believe that there is another John Deighton who married an Elizabeth Green. But I don't know when and have not yet come across them. There are quite a few John Dightons on my tree that I have not yet traced.

My John Dighton was born in 1775 and married Elizabeth Green 26 jan 1796. As far as I know they did not have a daughter called Susan. Their children were called
Robert, Mary, John, Whittlesea William, William green, William and Elizabeth.

The Deighton researchers that I have been in touch with are struggling with the Dickerson name, what we do know is, Jane Dickerson married John (Hodgskin) Deighton June 17th 1816 at St. Johns, Huntingdon, England. The names you mention - Jane - John - Betsy are some of their children. The confusion arises out of John Deighton's middle name Hodgskin which appears on some of the documents this is sometimes shown as his surname others as Hodgskin/Deighton, even his children appear to use both names.
Would be interested in your connection to this family however small.

Hi Chris, I have a Jane Dickerson who married John Hodgskin Deighton 17th June 1816 at St. Johns, Huntingdon, they are my 3x great grandparents through their daughter Lydia.

I don't have a lot of info other than the death cert of John 17 Feb 1878 in Huntingdon, I also purchased 4 death certs for Jane including the one that Deighton family researchers accept as being correct 18 April 1880 in Hull. I am not convinced that this is our Jane as the info reads as follows - address 26, Portland Street - age ok. 90 years, widow of Richard Deighton a Dyer (there is my doubt husbands name and occupation) - present at death Elizabeth Brown of 26, Portland Street, Hull, who or what relation is she? have not been able to trace her.

I would be interested in your own connection.

I have a Dickerson family living in St John's during first half of 1800's. Robert Dickerson b. c1801 was the father. Don't know much about him but do know there was a Robert and Ellen who may be his parents.
