More wow! I can't thank you enough for all your help. You've certainly given me plenty to go on, thank you so very much.
I started going through The Times archives online last night and making notes in order to make a timeline of George's possible/probable movements. I will indeed use the dates and events reported in The Times as a guide to looking up the possible reports in the local papers.
The anglo-boer website you gave me is also very impressive and contains a fair bit about the Shropshires as you quite rightly pointed out. It's all starting to come together very nicely now!
