Illinois Country + 1759 + Indians

Surnames: De Gruy, Aufrere, Guillemot dit la Lande, De la Croix
Might anyone know of any sources of information on possible Indian skirmishes in the Illinois Country in 1759, especially in the area around Fort de Chartres. A legend in our family that our 5th Great Grandfather [an officer stationed at Fort de Chartres] was killed by Indians. We now know that he died in February of 1759. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
