Re: DAVIS, Charles Alfred
Dorothy,
Thank you for replying to my query.
My grandfather was born in Penrhiwceiber, South Wales on 26/11/1896; he died on 12/2/1976 here in Australia. His father was Charles Michael Davis and his Mother was Jane Jones. He had a brother named William, which was not discovered until I obtained a copy of his Australian Military records as he was named as next of kin living in South Wales, address unknown. There is no mention of William age in my grandfather's military records either.
My grandfather did not talk about his family, albeit I was the closest to him apart from my mother. He was very proud, though that he had served in both WW1 and WW2. In WW1 he served for the British Military Services and in WW2 he served in the Australian Military Services.
When my grandfather enlisted in the Australian Military Services he did not produce his birth certificate, as documented in his records.
I do not know how he arrived here in Australia as he did not discuss this.
