My grandfather George W. Embry of New Orleans was one of the survivors of the attack on the oil tanker Healdton. Most newspaper articles (The New York Times March 23, 1917) say the tanker was torpedoed by the Germans, but I've seen on websites that the tanker may have hit British mines.
Ships list of the S.S. Manchuria show where 5 of the survivors including the Capt. and my grandfather returned home, sailing out of London April 13, 1917, arriving in New York.
I am wondering where I may find military records or records from Standard Oil out of Philadelpia who owned the tanker.
Where there any photos taken of the survivors upon their return??
Any help or suggestions much appreciated.
