This cracks me up!
When I sent in my help email about the new Gedcom export files not being to spec, they replied that they worked fine when importing to FTM. I got no response when I told them that the files failed the LDS gedcom check software. I guess the case is closed to them.

I wonder what they are going to tell me when I say that their exported gedcoms won't even upload back to this site!?

Has anyone been able to upload a gedcom? If so, was it from FTM?

This place has been circling the bowl rapidly since December.

where it is obvious that the exported files are NOT totally gedcom complient. So I think Ancestry are avoiding the issue ghere!

Yes, you're right about them avoiding the issue. But, maybe they will do something.. I was going to post this yesterday, but the message board was being wacky again & wouldn't let me! Ironic, eh?

Short version- My upload issues were due to Firefox. IE seems to work fine. It's another Firefox compatability problem, & I hope they are working on them, but at least I have a solution.

Yesterday out of the blue I got a phone call from the help desk! It was about another email I had sent, but I mentioned the gedcom upload problem that I was having. The guy was very helpful, & offered to try to duplicate my upload problem. We worked through a few sample uploads/downloads and determined that it was Firefox incompatability, which he said that he would report. I was actually impressed that he took the initiative and the time.

I told him after it was all said & done that the gedcom downloads were still out of spec and even though there was a workaround to that as well, it caused me extra unnecessary time. He seemed to acknowledge that, and said he would pass that on as well. So... hopefully....

You got a phone call from Ancestry!!!!! I don't even get a reply to my emails!!!
