Help to identify Gravestone Engraving

I'm trying to identify an engraving found on a headstone from 1878.
The symbol appears to be a standard two point compass with three interlocked rings between the points. The compass is similar to the logo for the Masons but there is no ruler or G. The rings are similar to the logo for the Oddfellows but there are no letters inside.
Has anyone recognize the symbol or know where I might be able to learn what it represents?
