I am in touch with the National Society and will try to soon start one in Mississippi and Louisiana. If you are interested, please email me. I will contact you when I receive the information from the National Office. Thanks so much.
You find out so much information when belonging to an organization such as this one.

Count me in. Much needed. The majority of my family is from Mississippi and it is so hard to find information and to get help. So many places are no longer there and it is as if everything vanished.

I didn't know there was such an organization! We are researching my husband's family and it has been difficult to say the least! Both sides of his family started in Mississippi, but, we live in Wisconsin now and finding information on the people and places in Mississippi has been difficult to say the least.

I'm not sure if I can be of any help to you in setting up this chapter, but, if I can please let me know how I can help.

I find Mississippi easy to research. What part of Mississippi and the names you are researching?
I am not bragging but I am really good. Maybe I can help you.

I'm actually researching both lines of my husband's family, I'll post the other line in another post. 1920 is it for John Wright, I can't find him before this point and the family doesn't have much info on him either. This is what I've got for the paternal line ......

On the 1920 Census, John Lewis Wright (b circa 1888) was living in Beat 1, Sunflower County, MS with his wife Emma Tutson (b circa 1893). They had one daughter, Emma Lee (b. 1919) and a niece lived with them at the time - Zora Mae Tutson.

On the 1930 Census, John Lewis Wright (spelled Right) and Emma are living in Beat 1, Sunflower County, MS. They have three children - Emma Lee, John Louis (b. 5/10/1920 Inverness, MS, d. 1995, Peoria, IL) and L.C. (b 5/23/1922, d. 8/2/1945).

We do have John Louis Wright's SS application form. At that time (1941) he was living in Memphis, TN. It seems that the family must have moved to Memphis and then at some point moved to Peoria, IL.

We have found L.C.'s draft card and death/burial info from the US Army. His last known address was in Memphis, TN in 1945. John Louis also joined the Army while he was living in Memphis, Tennessee. So at some point the Wright family moved to Memphis, TN.
