Neu Pasua ancestors

I'm in the process of completing my family tree. It is my hope to find people who descended from some of the same ancestors as me.

The following names are on my family tree. All were Danube-schwabian germans from the town Nova Pazova (neu pasua). Also if anyone has any suggestions for researching the Will surname i'd appreciate it - search engines include every single site that some has used the verb "will" and most genealogy specific websites have "will" as one of their automatically excluded terms.

Friedrich Will (b 1879) and Katharina Guska/Juska (b 1885)
*both immigrated to Sharon, PA.

Michael Will(b. 1852) and Elisabetha Popp (B. 1853)

Fridericus Will (1830-1890) and Maria Elisabetha Lederer (1830-1892)

Petrus Will (1799-1849) and Rosina Ellenberger

Philippus Will (1764 - 1807) and Maria Elisabetha Heintz Hofman (1867-1907)

Other family tree surnames that aren't part of my direct line:

Abrell.......Altorfer.....Ardt
Banzhaf......Bauer........Binder
Bittelbach...Bomler.......Brod
Buszmann.....Copp.........Dech
Flohr........Gleich.......Graf
Haller.......Heyse........Holp
Huber........Kailer.......Keck
Kendel.......Klaus........Kranzler
Kumpf........Lebherz......Leibensberger
Lemmer.......Muller.......Reck
Ruchbauch....Schafer......Schempf
Schiller.....Schleicher...Schveitzer
Shafer.......Urschel......Vagman
Weber........Yentz

Are you researching family roots of ethnic German background?

To anyone researching their family roots of ethnic German background in former Austria-Hungary territories, consider the Danube Swabian / Donauschwaben. I invite you to check out the Donauschwaben Villages' Helping Hands (DVHH) Project http://www.dvhh.org, a volunteer project for researchers of Danube Swabian Heritage. We are celebrating our 4th year online, providing a wealth of information for you to utilize.

We also have a worldwide mailing list "DONAUSCHWABEN-VILLAGES-L"

Topic: (DVHH) is a bilingual English-German mailing list for anyone with an interest in the former Danube Swabian (ethnic German) villages situated in the six regions which were part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire until 1918: Banat, Batschka, Hungarian Highlands, Sathmar, Swabian Turkey, Syrmia & Slavonia. (these regions are today in parts of Hungary, Romania, Croatia and Yugoslavia (Serbia).

We help researchers discover their Danube Swabian ancestral roots, history, environs, culture and lifestyle. We encourage our list members to ask questions and share discoveries. If you are new at researching, you will learn quite a bit about your heritage on our list. And we may learn something new from you.

This mail list is associated with the DVHH online project. Read more about joining our mail list:
http://www.dvhh.org/glance/mail-list.htm

Happy Hunting,
Jody McKim
ps: I only understand English

Oral History Project on Danube-Swabian Immigration

I am a Master's student at York University conducting an oral history project on the immigration experiences of Danube-Swabian immigrants in Canada. Inspired by my grandparents' stories of the old country and unique immigration experiences as ethnic German immigrants from Yugoslavia, I am very interested in recording experiences of other Danube-Swabian immigrants. In particular I am interested in stories about thier lives Yugoslavia, Romania and Hungary prior to immigrating, the circumstances of emigration, and thier new lives in Canada.

Anyone interested in learning more about the project, and in particularly those who might be interested in contributing thier stories, should contact me at rstrung@yahoo.ca for more information.

MAGYAR/GERMAN ETHNICITY

When emigrating to this country in 1909, my g-father Ludwig Bartosiewicz listed his ethnicity as Hungary/German and his place of residence as Galgocz, Hungary, which I now understand is in Hlohovec, Slovakia. The only other Bartosiewicz's I find by doing a surname search are from Poland. There are never any names from Hungary, Slovakia or Germany. Does anyone have any connection with this name or a similar situation.

Osijek Immigrations

Trying to find my German ancestors from Esseg, Austria (Osijek). They suddenly appear in Osijek records in mid-1800s where the trail ends. Does anyone know of a likely point of origin for immigrants into Osijek during this period. Or is there any other way of determening where they came from.

Ken

Donauschwaben Village Helping Hands” (DVHH) website
The “Donauschwaben Village Helping Hands” (DVHH) website has recently been created by a team of hard working subscribers from the RootsWeb BANAT e-mail list. The goal of this project is a cooperative effort to help us learn more about Donauschwaben life and the history of the villages our ancestors came from.

DVHH Main Exchange: http://www.milleker.org/dvhh/mainex/

The Main Exchange is the centre of the website jammed packed with many features and general information and invaluable researching links. From there, individual websites featuring various Donauschwaben villages can be located. Each featured village has a Village Coordinator (VC) who volunteered to compile information regarding the village and assist in building a website for that village. The VC is also available to answer questions about the village. The list of Donauschwaben villages with existing or future websites can be viewed by visiting: http://www.milleker.org/dvhh/mainex/vclist.htm

This is a work in progress so bookmark this website and visit often as more villages are added. If you have ancestors, photos or information to contribute to a particular village, the Village Coordinator would love to hear from you. If your ancestor’s Donauschwaben village isn’t featured, volunteers are more than welcome, knowing you have the support of a team behind you, to help make it happen.

Enjoy your visit to the DVHH site.

Judy

To what was then Hungary - known living Arad & Nitzkydorf. GGrandfather, Michael Joseph BERWANGER came to USA from Nitzkydorf in 1904. Received letter from cousin in Romania to my grandmother (Eva Magdelene Berwanger Weil) in 1960's) but contact was not kept up.
