Fitzgeralds, Perry County, PA

Dear Vickie,

I remembered seeing your posting. I believe we chatted as my maternal great grandfather was a Fitzgerald in Perry County, PA. He married Loamie Mame Freeburn. Yesterday I found my grandmothers death certificate and voila there it was Steven Fitzgerald her father. I also saw the Frank and Annie M. Fitzgerald you mentioned in your posting. Makes me suspicious because my grandmother was Anna Menetta Fitzgerald - could be the reusing of Steven's mother's name. Steven died in a train accidnet on Aug 2, 1906. Anyway, in searching Perry County I found the following:

Mary C. Fitzgerald m. James G. Sharon
17 April 1901 in Newport, Perry County, PA
Parents: Frank & Annie M. FitzGerald
Parents: W.W. and Mary F. Sharon

The spouse was an attorney. I bet this is the Mary in your posting. She is listed as 21 years old, and the groom is 32.

Hope this helps and maybe we can work on this one a bit more as I still suspect Steven may have been a member of this family. Unfortunatley not sure when he and Loamie Married but it had to be before 1894 when my grandmother was born. Does the Fitzgerald family show up in the 1880 census in Harrisburg or Perry County?

Bridget Murphy was b. ca. 1841, in Ireland, as were her parents.
Her children were born in Pennsylvania as follows: Sarah, 1862, James, 1863, Michael, 1870, Kate, 1872, and Alexander, 1874. I took the approximate years of birth from the 1880 Barry County, Missouri census. She was a widow and had a son Daniel, b. 1877, in Missouri. The other children were born in Pennsylvania. Their father was born in Ireland. Does anyone in Pennsylvania have any information on who Mr. Murphy may have been, and/or who Bridget may have been before her marriage? Any help with this family would cetainly be appreciated. Thank you, Dennis
EGAN in Philadelphia to Chester County areas

My great grandmother was Mary EGAN who died in 1896 in Lehigh County, PA and was born about 1856, in Ireland, I believe. My great-grandfather reported that she was from Chester County, PA. I find her listed in the census in Chester County only as a servant on a farm. I believe her to be the daughter of Daniel EGAN of nearby Newtown Square, Delaware County and believe that Daniel and his wife, Mary, arrived in Philadelphia in 1860. Does anyone have any information on these?

Searching for any info on my great-grandfather Thomas Lally (b. Sept. 6, 1849, Manulla, Co. Mayo) in the Luzerne County area between 1873-78. Also searching for any other families from the coal regions who trace back to Manulla.

Thomas landed in NYC in May 1873, where he had a brother Mathew--both were shoemakers. Matt stayed in NYC, but Tom signed his "Intent to Naturalize" at the Luzerne County court on Sept. 11, 1876. He was back in NYC getting married on Sept. 5, 1878. He filed his final naturalization in NYC in October with his Luzerne Co. papers attached.

I have looked for other likely relatives from the Lally and (his maternal) Dowdell/Dowdall families in Luzerne Co. on the 1870 & 1880 census lists. I have searched Wilkes-Barre city directories for the period. Even checked with Pat Campbell, who wrote a book on his great-uncle Alexander Campbell and the Molly Maguires. No luck!

Can anyone help me find any trace of Tom in Luzerne Co.? Any relatives or Mayo immigrants from the Manulla/Balla area? Any records I should search that I've missed?

Thanks for your suggestions and help!
--Steve Lally

LEESON, CORBETT & THOMPSON

These people were in Erie PA area by 1840. John LEESON married Mary CORBETT at some point. They had a son Thomas J that was born in Erie County PA in 1840 according to his military papers. And he married a Mary THOMPSON daughter of William THOMPSON and they all came from Cork Ireland. We think they came into Canada but no proof of that yet. Would like to find a marriage for John & Mary and also proof of naturalization. Any help most appreciated.

He immigrated with brother Hugh in 1847 while she and new-born Bridget stayed behind.
They are all listed on the 1850 Carbon county census, along with Owen & James O'Donnell (her brothers?) in the same house, seemingly owned by Dr.& Mrs.McConnelogue.
Need information on her parents/sibs/immigration data/death date/burial. They should be buried in St.Joe's-Summit Hill but can't find them.

Looking for information on my step-great-grandfather who was born in Ireland (Donegal, I think) and married my widowed great-grandmother,(born in Pa.) who had 5 kids. They produced 3 more. He is shown on 1900 census as Supervisor of Luzerne County. He doesn't appear on the 1910 Miracode, so presumably died in the interim. Believe she died app.1920 but can't find there gravesites. Would like to find his parents/sibs/immigration data.
