Searching for information on the following families who migrated from Sonora, MX to California & Arizona Territory.

Jesus RUIZ RONQUILLO b. 1829-1830 at Santa Cruz, Sonora, Mx and was the son of Agustin RONQUILLO & Juana RUIZ. Jesus 1st m. was ?? DUARTE - he then m. Placida BONILLAS, when Placida died he then married her younger sister, Maria de Los Angeles BONILLAS at Azusa, San Gabriel Parish, Calif in 1872. Parents of Placida & Angelita were Tomas BONILLAS & Trinidad LEON of Cucupre, Sonora, MX.. Jesus & Angelita migrated to AZ Terr. abt 1878. Jesus had a brother, Florentino who probably died in California & a son or brother(not sure of this relationship), Manuel Ronquillo who was on the Pete Kitchen Ranch. Manuel married Jesus Verdugo, the sister of Rosa Verdugo who was the wife of Pete Kitchen. Would like to hear from anyone who has any information on these families.

Child's Name to Include Mother's Maiden Name

I've been teaching my 7 year old daughter about using my maiden name hyphenated with her father's last name and about her heritage. My mother passed away recently and I want my daughter to understand who she is and where she comes from. Unfortantely, her dad (we're divorced) does not see it the same way. He has gone as far as to making a copy of her California birth certificate and calling me a "liar" since I told my daughter her name was T...L...Lopez-Lee. I will be going to family court in the next few months on other issues and am considering requesting the courts allow me to change my daughter's name to include my last name hyphenated with her fathers. I'd like to find as much "legal" information that I can present to the courts hopefully proving my daughter's "civil" right to have my last name included in her's. I changed my last name back to my maiden name (Lopez) at the time of my divorce so I think including my last name in her name will make her life easier to be associated with "her mother". Can you tell me where I might find "legal" information on something like this?

This may have been another son or grandson - Jose Gamez, Jr - was living in Marana, AZ in Oct of 1938 - wife may have been Guadalupe Ferra

I have a question regarding how last names were given to children. I've read it is customary to use the father's last name followed by the mother's last name. I've run into a few situations as listed below.

1-- Jose MARTINEZ Alferez
sp-Nicolasa De La GARZA
2-- Jose MARTINEZ Alferez
sp-Margarita GUTIERREZ
3-- Maria Gertrudis GUAJARDO

I'm trying to understand how Jose and Margarita gave their daughter the Guajardo surname. I'm guessing it may have been from Margarita's parents or grandparents.

Is there some other naming custom which might explain this?

Hispanic heritage

Please help me find links to my family. I have found that on both sides of my family were Mexican Indian and not Native American Indian as my mother and I had been told. One great grandmother (Ocilla Lucinda Davis)had been in a Spanish mission when she met my ggrandfather (David Lee Landress-who was half Mexican and half Irish). Their son(my grandfather), Thomas Oscar Lee Landress, should have been listed as HIspanic on birthrecords but was not. He then married Martha Recythnia (sometimes called Ruth) Hittell. Her mother's family was Vader with first names of Abbie, Marietta...My mother remembers her grandmother speaking to her in SPanish but was reprimanded whenever she spoke to the children in her native tongue.
My father's family name is RIchardson, however, the facial looks and skin tone were dark as was their hair. His mother was Nelva Tomlin, only 4'10" and died at age 24. Some in his family spoke Spanish, but my father was never taught how. He was raised by his Indian aunts and father. Nancy RIchardson even moved to TX to teach school there to the SPanish/Indian children. I continue to strive to find more about my Mexican family and am learning to speak Spanish. Seeking anyone having relatives in Estancia Las Animas in Zecatecas for information leading to the location of an aunt named Paula Mercado Garcia. She married Ambrocio Garcia. He died after 1984 but don't have an exact date or place. I believe he is buried in Estancia Las Animas. I don't know if Paula is alive or not. They have a daughter named Elvira. I am searching for family for the Reyes Esquibel Family. Reyes and Victoria Loera Esquibel lived in the Lubbock, Texas area for many years and have eight children: Reyes "Ray" Jr., Roy, Ralph, Mary Lydia, Ofelia Luera, Rosendo, Leonel "Lonnie", and Rene. A few typos on birth certificates like Loera spelled Luera and Esquibel spelled Esquivel. Any information on this family will be helpful. My Great Grandfather Jesus Maria Manzanares was born in Ojo Caliente, New Mexico 1-6-1830. He lived to be 103 and died in Huerfano County April 7,1933. His family originally came over with the de Vargas Conquistadores in the 17th century, from Spain. They may have come in through South America originally. Every generation of his family only had one male heir. I would like to find information about his father and grandfather etc. perhaps in Spain too.

I am searching for information concerning my father's family. His name was Anthony Don Chaves b.1925. His mother's first name was Emelia or Amelia or Meilly. At one time they l lived in Santaquin Utah and Meilly may have also lived in Price. His father was Jesus.. My grandfather was said to have died in a mining accident in Utah in the 1920's or 1930's. Clavita Espinosa was married to my grandfather, Emiliano Gauna.Clavita, died in 1953, Emiliano in 1970.
Baleria Saiz was married Jose Gauna, whom are my great grandparents, they may have come from the Anton chico, NM area.
Emiliano Gauna Was born in La Loma, or La Junta,NM around the Anton Chico area.

I am researching the JILOTE surname. I would like more information on the JILOTES of Guanajuato, MEX. I have found church records dating back to 1649.

I know the name means "green corn" or "little corn". I have found a Native American family by the name of JILOT that are Chippewa and living in Montana. Other than that, the only other JILOTEs I have found are related and most are living in TX.

Anyone that knows how to find info in Guanajuato.... let me know!

Searching for g grandfather and g grandmother, maiden name Cisneros. Know very little about my grandfather, only that he came from matamoros, mex. born around 1860 or 1870, do not know when he died. Had about 5 children, lived in San Antonio, texas, in 1892 when my grandfather Abelardo, who married Victoria Morales, was born. Our Laura Turner was b. abt. 1856, in Texas or so it says on her Death cert. Married in Commanche, Texas 1875 to John B Stidham. They moved to Real Co. I am looking for my mothers uncles who are now all deceased. They lived in Mexico City, Mx. My Grandfather Leonardo Escobar died in Mexico City on March 29,1924. his body was viewed at their home at Casa numero 5 ad de fa ta calle de Turin. His remains were buried at the Panteon Frances.
He had brothers, Leon, Jose(pepe) Carlos. They were related to the Escobar family that owned and ran the Collegio de Agricultura in Cd.Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. This collegio is no longer in existance. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Cayetano Abreyo Lucero married Anita Garcia in Encino NM. Cayatano waas born in La Cieniga, Around Santa Fe, NM. C.A. as he was known; passed away in Portales, NM in August 31, 1991.
Florentino C. Lucero was born in northern NM. Married Cesaria Abreayo (here is where it is confusing) it could also be one of the Following: Abreu,or Abreo.
My grandfather used to say that he stole Cesaria from the Indians and married her. She had light skin and blue eyes.

Resident of the Nolan County area of Texas in the 1910-1920 period.

Married Mary Nola Flynn ( Hylton) briefly, and fathered a daughter named Juanita Chitwood ( born 1920 ).

I am looking for the relatives of my father and myself. Joseph Peter Kloberdanz was born on or around April 11, 1916 in or around Topeka Ks. He was adopted by german immigrants and moved to Osage Iowa. I am looking for his original family; they are either of Mexican or Indian hertiage or maybe both. I have some pictures of people who bear a strong family resemblance but I have no other information. He was a Marine and was in the San Diago and Laguna Beach area during the early 1940's.
