Dear Steve:

If you search this board or the gatewayed list's archives for "family crest" you will see many posts explaining this topic.

There is no such thing as a FAMILY crest or FAMILY coat of arms, contrary to what the marketing mavens may tell you. There is such a thing as "Heraldic Law" and it is still active in many countries. The USA has never had Heraldic Law.

Heraldic Arms are awarded to an individual. Some are heritable and will have a "difference" between the original Amigor's shield design and their own. Family members or people of the same surname will have common elements in the design, due to a common history.

In order to see which of the arms you located may have a connection to one of your Ancestors or family members from long ago, you will need to do some genealogy to see if there is any connection what so ever.

Yours Aye,

Lauren M. Boyd, FSA Scot
