Annie Vernon Harper

I have been trying to figure out who the great aunt was that my mum's twin sisters went to visit in Hamilton, Ontario in 1954. This aunt, who they called Auntie Polly but I think was actually, Annie Vernon Harper was born in 1880 in St Helens, Lancashire and was the daughter of Robert and Esther Harper (nee Dixon). Annie/Polly was married to a Jack Rowley who was a carpenter and may have had his own business making furniture. It is beleived that they both died in the 1960s.

I have no idea how she got to Canada or where and when she married Jack Rowley. Are there any trade directories for the 40' and 50' for Hamilton - if so would that help?

I have some photographs taken when the twin aunts were out there visiting but I can get no clue as to where about they were taken.

Another strange thing is that her parents Robert and Esther Haprer had a daugher named Anne born in 1868 and then another daughter vorn in 1870 but Annie Vernon was not born until 1880 when her mother was 35. The rest of the family appear onthe census right up to 1901 but I only have Annie Vernon Harper on the 1881 census>

All in all a puzzle - can anyone help or make suggestions as I am realy at a brick wall with this and I have no-one in the family to ask as they have all died.

Thanks for any help.

Kay
