I'm trying to find out info on my Prussian ancestors. I'm trying to not only find out when they immigrated, but hopefuly where they are from in Prussia. I've tried looking at ship records on various sites, but have hit dead ends. I don't have membership on Ancestry, so I can't do a look-up. I sure could use the help. The census' don't say anything that would help. My gg-grandmother', Elizabeth Louisa', death record says nothing. I can't find anything on her siblings either. I'm not sure where they arrived (on US soil) but my ancestors were Theodore SCHMITZ, SCHMIDT and his wife Anna Maria, children, Julia, Mary A. and Elizabeth Louisa. All the family were from Prussia. Theodore was b. abt 1804-1808. Anna Maria was b. abt 1819-1824. Julia was b. abt 1833. Mary A. abt 1840 and Elizabeth Louisa abt 1842-43. The family was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by 1845 as they are in the 1850 census. The 1850 census uses the spelling of SCHMIDT, the others (census') are using the English version of Smith. Incase it helps, the 1850 census states that Theodore was a Mason. Any help is appreciated.
