It's possible that the Mullins feud you're thinking about is due to the "Fight at Big Springs Cave" in Rockcastle Co. that took place in 1858 between the Mullins family and the Haily family, of which I'm related.
Calloway Mullins was injured and Wm. T. Moore, Wm. A Jones and James H Jones were killed. There is a very well researched booklet for sale on the Rockcastle Co. website that has the names of all involved going all the way through an interrupted trial, due to the Civil War, that ended in 1866. My gggrandfather, Edward Slaughter, may have been killed in 1865 because of this feud.
