Hi Debra,
We kind of lost touch. I also have researched the Melungeons as we too are of the characteristics you mentioned. We are of Native American descent on my maternal side so those characteristics could be from my maternal side so I had dismissed the Melungeon theory temporarily. I've been wanting to ask my brother to get a DNA test but haven't seen him for awhile because we both work different hours. My email is jdyingram@aol.com. I moved back home to Illinois in July, 2006.
