Georg Harter(Herder) and Eva Bracker

I am looking for the circa 1754-1769 birth records of Georg and Eva Harter/Herder's children. I have found some records from the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church (Blue church). Georg was baptized sometime before 1760, He and Eva were married in 1752, and their oldest child, Christian, was born in 1753. The problem is that in 1769 they showed up in the Frederick County, MD church records with Christian and ten siblings. I have yet to find any birth record for the other ten. Does anyone know whether the St Paul's internet records are complete? If so, any suggestions? I did find a record of a Georg Harter and wife sponsoring a baptism in Tulpehocken, but that has led nowhere.

descendants of Samuel Wray and Lotta Groner ?

I've been searching for the brother of my GG-grandmother. I knew that he (William Wray) emigrated to Pennsylvania. I have recently discovered that he married an Irish girl, Jane Chittick, in Philadelphia in 1869. They had two children that survived to adulthood, William J. Wray who spent most of his life in Whitemarsh, and Conshohocken, Montgomery county, and Samuel Wray, who spent most of his life in Upper Mount Bethel.

Samuel married Lotta ("Lottie") Groner between 1910 and 1913. They had son, William G. Wray, but Lottie died in the great flu epidemic of 1918.
Samuel worked as a slate quarry labourer, as a machinist a Bethlehem Steel.
Samuel died in 1950, while his son William lived until 2004 in Wind Gap, Northampton. In his 1943 draft papers, his civilian job was lasited as Tire Rebuilder or Divers Helper, Marine. He was married.

I'm interested in hearing from anyone who knew the family, and in particular if they know how and why William emigrated from Ireland in 1856, aged 8. His mother, brother and sister remained in Northern Ireland, eventually moving to Scotland. I have not found his father, Samuel Alexander Wray in the records and now suspect that William emigrated with his father and never saw the rest of his family again. I do have a copy of a letter that William wrote to his brother in 1873, offering to send him a ticket to come to America, but his brother never took up the offer.

Does anyone know where I might find a marriage or birth record from the Stillwater area of Sussex County? He may have been born in PA, Smithfield area of Monroe (then Northampton) County. more info on the person in question is below.

David LeBar was born 07 JAN 1825 maybe in PA, died 23 MAR 1902 and married 06 JUN 1846 in Sussex County. We're trying to find the marriage record or a birth record that would mention his parents.

sherri

(I have contacted you in the past regarding David Lebar and Marilda Grover. I have not been able to find parents for David. I do have his obit now and know his date of death. However, when I contacted the archives in Stroudsburg, they could not find a record. I did get a copy of Marilda's, which confirmed who her parents were. I am so frustrated I don't know where to go next. There is a record of David and Marilda's marriage in New Jersey but I think it came from LDS records. What experience have you had with marriage records from NJ as far back as 1846?)
Henry Adams 1726-1785-Lehigh Valley Adams

I am trying to find the ancestor's of Henry Adams. My family tree has been traced back to him and then stops. Henry was supposedly sometimes referred to as the Lehigh Valley Adams. He was born in or near Boston. Henry and his son, Robert and other members of the family, came to PA by way of Rhode Island to fight Indians in Eastern PA and settled in Huntingdon County.

My tree goes from Henry 1726-1785 to Robert Adams 1753-1810/Thomas Adams 1798-1851/Richard Adams 1819-1890/Ephriam Adams 1844-1911/John Quincy Adams 1867-1936/Mona Eudora Adams Clark 1912-1955/Mona Jean Clark Shiock 1936-2003/to me Andrea Shiock Anthony b.1957.

Henry was a fifer in the Revolutionary War in Capt. John Wagner's Company of the 4th Batallion, Northumberland County Malitia, PA. His son, Robert, served in the 8th PA Regiment, Continental Line. From RootsWeb.com it lists this military service number: BET.Jul 1776-Apr 1779

The information I have states that Henry died in Indiana County, PA and Robert died in Westmoreland County, PA. Robert also served as Westmoreland County Justice of the Peace in 1777.

Henry was married in 1750 but I don't have her name. All records seem to stop at Henry Adams. Any help in finding Henry Adam's ancestors would be greatly appreciated.

Carty to McCarty, Bucks Co.

My 3rd great grandfather was Samuel Carty, born Oct. 20, 1828; died Sept. 10, 1881. I believe his last name at birth was McCarty as there are no Carty's on the Census prior to 1850. Ironically the person taking the census for that area was Justus Carty who was actually Justus McCarty, his tombstone even says McCarty. The only McCarty on the 1840 census who would have had a child who was Samuel's age was a Peter McCarty. I can't find much on him yet. When Samuel signed up for the Civil War he signed up the same day as a Jacob Carty, I wonder if they were brothers? There is also a William Carty who moved to Phillipsburg, NJ.

VETERANS of the WAR of 1812

The New Jersey Society of the War of 1812 has launched a project to locate as many gravesites as possible of Veterans of the War of 1812 buried in New Jersey.
We are asking all Historical and Genealogical organizations to join with us in this project by advising us of gravesites that they know or can locate through their research. We also intend to contact as many New Jersey cemeteries as possible to determine if they can provide any information.

We are open to any and all suggestions concerning locations of information that will assist with this project. If possible, we hope to place a marker on each grave that can be identified. Please provide the name of the Veteran, any military information available about his service, the cemetery location (county, city/town, and latitude/longitude), the location of the gravesite in the cemetery and any gravestone or other information that is available.
We do not expect every gravesite discovery will have all the information shown above, but we ask that the maximum information available be transmitted to us.
Information can be sent to the address listed below as can any questions or suggestions.

Robert J. Fenner
email: rjfenner@comcast.net
Hi,

I was entering Frank's pedigree charts today and noticed that he shares grandparents with those listed on Helen's pedigree charts. If you two aren't already aware of this, you may want to get in touch with each other.

Your common ancestors are Josef/Joseph Rager and Eugenia Daiker.
The birth dates on Josef/Joseph differ. One of you has 03 MAY 1837 and the other has 03 MAY 1832

sherri
Internet Relationships...Does It Work?

We all know the Internet is a big window of opportunity and we must be careful of these opportunities. Since many people are using the Internet for dating purposes, safety first should be on the forefront of their minds.
(Use this medium wisely!)

Internet relationships is a growing population that can't be ignored any more. People are making this way of social behavior a common practice.

I have researched extensively on Internet Relationships and have received hundreds of letters from Internet Couples around the world sharing their experiences. Most of our feedback from our readers showed results of marriage to their Internet Lover while others showed devastation as their results.

Is it safe to say internet meetings between faceless names on-line is taking the place of meeting people at bars, clubs, churches, parties and other social gatherings?

People are looking outside their box (environment) for something different and better than what they're use too! People are seeking companionship where ever they can find it!

And it seems to me the internet is where they're looking. Would you have an Internet Relationship and if so how far will you go to make it work?

B.Jones
instant_message_2005@yahoo.com
I've created the database for all names submitted in member's pedigree charts. They are available at the club website under the surname page
http://www.rootsweb.com/~njdlvgc/surnames.htm

If you can't open the files and would like some other kind of format, please e-mail me, and I'll try to get you something more to your liking.

The chart is in excel format, so that you can sort by whatever column you'd like. An index to the charts that were submitted is available as a Word document.

sherri

Could someone please look at a phone book around Allentown and see if there are any Kacur Or Kacsur surnames there. Please send me their address, I have no way of knowing if my missing great uncle Joseph had any children. He was in Shamokin,Pa. for a while then went to Allentown. I would love to see if I can get an obit for him. He died I think sometime in the 1950's. He came here in the late 1890's and the rest of his family was from Johnstown, but he chose to stay there. They came from Spiss Lackova in Czech or Austria. His father was Joseph and mother Mary Stefanik. Thanks alot for reading this. Jenny

Has anyone in your club done any work on the Moore family? I am the descendant of a Philip Moore, who moved to Ohio around 1800 after having lived in western Pennsylvania in the 1780's and 1790's. There is information that he lived "on the Delaware", and perhaps (source for this is uncertain) on the Upper Black Eddy in northern Bucks County. (Many people also trace Philip to the Hunterdon County descendants of the Rev. John Moore of Long Island, but there are problems with this -- apparently incompatible dates.)
I'd be extremely grateful if any of your members have information about this Philip Moore, or his wife Eleanor (Nelly) Evans.
Thanks, Richard Bock

I am working on transcribing early records from the three Upper Mount Bethel Churches that joined in the 1970's to become Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. They were: St. Paul's Lutheran Church in N. Bangor, Grace Lutheran Church in E. Bangor, and Bethany Lutheran and Ref. Church at Stier (Johnsonville). The earliest reference is a birthdate of 1829, but the majority are from the 1860's on.

I am taking requests for surnames to watch for while I am transcribing. If you have lineage in any of these churches, feel free to email me with the requests. I'll acknowledge you mail, and I will respond with information as I find it.

sherri
slabar@enter.net

Capt. James Stewart (Loyalist)

Captain James Stewart of the 5th NJ Volunteers
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am seeking biographical data (names of parents, birth and death records, wife's name, etc.) for my g4 grandfather who lived in Greenwich Twp in Sussex County, New Jersey, where he had an 85-acre farm and kept a public house. He was born ca. 1737 and commissioned Captain in the 5th NJ Volunteers in 1776 and at the end of the war received half-pay of that rank. He received 700 acres of land in 1785 in Parrsborough Twp., Nova Scotia, and was recorded to be in the parish of Landkey, Devonshire, England, in 1788. His POA was filed in 1809 and his will in 1816 in Sussex Couty, NJ; the will was probated in 1819. At the end of his life, he was living with a widowed daughter in what is now Belvidere, Warren County, NJ. I could find no information as to where he and his wife are buried.
Any suggestions, advice, clues, etc. would be greatly appreciated! (Addendum: I wonder if he was the "Tory Jim" Stewart who participated in Simcoe's Raid(?))

Barbara Bond
