I am looking for information to connect this family (John Bush, Angeline Hewitt, Edwin Bush) to the Levi Hewitt Descendants and the Michael Bush Descendants. There seems to be strong suggestion, that they are connected, but I cannot find enough information on John Bush.

Edwin A. Bush is my great grandfather. A picture I have from Edwin says that Angeline Bush is his mother. The headstone of Angeline Bush list her date of birth as May 1, 1842. The cemetery notes her maiden name as Hewitt and that she was the wife of John Bush.
Edwin Bush was born May 27, 1868. Edwin had 3 siblings-1 brother and 2 sisters.

I have been unable to find any birth or death information on John Bush.

Thanks for any help offered.
Joi Soucy
Ch. of James N. NORMAN (1801-aft.1870), Gilmer/Calhoun Cos.WV

I am looking for proof that James N. Norman and his wife, Catherine Summers, had a daughter named Mary (b. 1831) who married Benjamin Jeffreys of Yellow Creek, Calhoun County, WV.

I have proof the wife of Benjamin Jeffreys was Mary Norman, but I have never independently ever been able to find a record that stated the name of her parents. The names Benjamin Jeffreys and James N. Norman appear together on a number of deeds in Calhoun County, so there seems to be a connection between the two. The history of the Norman family written by Don Norman states that James N. Norman had a daughter named Mary who married Benjamin Jeffreys. I haven't found anything to contradict what Don Norman has written, but neither have I found any primary source that supports it.

When I contacted Mr. Norman, I posed the same question to him and he graciously checked his material. He couldn't find what primary material he used as he didn't have room to store all of it, so wasn't sure.

I am seeking to verify this link in my family tree. I am in no way trying to find fault or be critical of Don Norman's work, but merely verifying it.

I appreciate any clues that anyone can provide. Thanks!

Hello,

I recently purchased a certified 19th century handwritten copy of a will for John Radcliff of Gnatty Creek in Harrison County, VA/WV. The will copy is written in quill on Mt. Hope Paper stationary. The clerk of courts at the time the copy was written was Sydney Hammond. He was clerk of courts from 1864-1867. This document is NOT a copy. It is written in Sydney Hammond's hand. The original will, which he copied, was dated 30 December 1812.

The will mentions John's wife Catherine, sons John, Jonathan, James, and Benjamin, daughter Susannah, and grand-daughter Sarah Radcliff.

I would be happy to send a transcription of the will to any who are interested.

Billy
Charity was my great grandmother. I am seeking her death date and burial location. In 1920, she and husband Franklin were living in Braxton County with their son Roscoe Blaine. Franklin died on Dec 22, 1926, in Gallia Co Ohio, where Roscoe had moved, and his death certificate lists him as a widower. He is buried in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery near Vinton OH. So Charity died between 1920 and 1926 in either WV or OH. They lived most of their lives in Calhoun Co WV and were listed in the 1910 census with children still at home. I would assume Charity is buried beside Franklin, but grave marker readings I've found on the web do not indicate that. Any information would be greatly appreciated especially since I've exhausted all on-line sources I know about.

In another, they are father and grandson: with a John Sees as the Father of Eugenius Sees (same birthdate). What is the true picture here? He thought you may have some info concerning Nancy Covey Rollins.

Millie

Manly Carder, ca 1790-1890, lived in Lewis County the last several years of his life. He married first Elizabeth Switzer (Swisher) then after her death some researchers report he married Abigail Bennett. At least one researcher reports Manly and Abigail had one son, Harold. Can anyone point me to documents that would confirm the marriage, provide a date and place, and confirm the child? Thanks
Ambrose Williams and Millie Luddington were married in Greenbrier Co in 1786.

He was an elder brother to John Williams and Ann Jones. He was a speculator and was in the Braxton, Nicholas and Webster aea as early as 1785, pursuing land grants.

Their children were John B who married Mary, William who maried Rebecca Heater, Joseph who returned with wife, Rebecca Brown to Greenbrier. Samuel S who married Sara Donoho, Rebecca married George Wine, Mary married Harvey Ware, Margaret married a Williams cousin, Martha married Hugh Blake, Elizabeth did not marry, Bazel married Lucinda Howell and the record reflects they did not belong to this family.

Margaret Williams married Andrew Blake Sr in Greenbrier in 1793. They moved to the north of Oil Creek before the formation of Braxton County. That family was: Andrew Jr. who married Catherince Crissmore, in Lewis Co. John married Abigail Crissmore. Hugh who married Martha Wiliams, Hannah Blake was the widow of Isaac Ocheltree..

The article is quite long. It is in the Braxton County History, page 257, and authored by James S. Blake.

I looked in my DAR books and did not find Ambrose...there are several Luddingtons listed so if I had a first name, the father might possibly be there...

Thanks.
Lu Williams Ochiltree

Looking for father of Emory Talbott. His parents are ___ Talbott and Mary Poling. Have not been able to find given name of Emory's father or connect him to Richard Talbott's descendants in Barbour Co WV. The 1860 Barbour Co census lists Emery Talbott (age 24) and Clarinda (Stalnaker, age 25). Note spelling of Emery. Have also seen Emry. His gravestone in the Central Chapel cemetery in Meadowville WV has it spelled Emery. It also has his age at death on 8 Oct 1898 as 68, which should probably be 63 to agree with census records and other data showing his birth date in 1835. The 1850 census however shows no Talbott family with wife Mary and a child Emory age 15 or 16. There is a child Emory age 16 listed with James and Elizabeth (Vannoy) Poling. This could be Emory Talbott living with relatives of his mother Mary Poling Talbott. I haven't been able to look at the 1840 census (probably VA and Harrison Co).
I am looking for a 1935 genealogy, "Some Descendants of Edward William Jackson" by Maletta Prickett Doughman. Mrs. Doughman, of Lebanon, Ohio, drew much from the collected data of Andrew Jackson II (1853-1923). Any help finding this publication or descendants of Edward William Jackson would be appreciated.

Jackson Family Genealogy Website

Just wanted to let you know that there is a new site for descendants of Robert and Agnes (Washboure) Jackson. It can be found at the following link:

http://www.jacksonfamilygenealogy.com

The purpose of the web site is to find and record as many branches of descendants of Robert Jackson (1620-1685) as possible and make a connection place for many Jacksons. In addition to the family tree data, the site has many other pages to browse; a major one being the transcription of a Jackson Ledger found at Hacker's Creek Pioneer Descendants Library. It was written in 1887 and connects many other related families including Bailey, Arnold, Atkins, Bassel and others. This Ledger has helped many to break down their brick walls. So come and explore this site. Please also feel free to sign the guestbook.

3 Sarah Jacksons

I am concerned that there are 3 (or possibly more) Sarah Jacksons which are being confused. There is Sarah (1), born 3 January 1786 Daughter of Edward and Martha (Miller) Jackson who maried John Flesher, Sarah (2), born 1801 Daughter of William and Hannah (Bennett) Jackson who married Thomas Mounts and another Sarah (3) whose middle name is Abigail and who may have been born in 1765 (before either of the other Sarahs) and who married Jonathan Hughes. I am trying to track the parents of this third Sarah but so far without result. The marriage of Sarah (1) to John Flesheris in the Harrison Co marriage records. I would love to hear from anyone who has these three untangled.

I
would like to find their date of death and place of burial as well as any other information about this family. I need two things to put on this copy (that I need for my DAR application). The page number that William Clark (married to Barbara Helmick) appears, as well as the publication date of the book. If you have a copy of this book would you please e-mail me with this info. I live in GA and none of the libraries here have it.
Thanks for any help you can give me. Don't need a copy...just the publishing date and page number.

Since this new privacy law has been passed, I don't know if it will be possible to get records less than 100 years old now.
Here is a link to a site on the History of Weston State Possible. Levi L Queen died about 1850 and his widow should be Catherine Queen, not Catherine Coburn..

The Queen books all say the Catherine that married Levi L Queen was Catherine Coburn. I am wondering why two documents list her name as Lowther and I am also wondering why she has the surname Coburn in 1880.

Theory:
1) Levi L. Queen marries Catherine Lowther in 1802.
2) Levi Queen dies about 1850.
3) Catherine Lowther Queen marries a Coburn.
4) Catherine's Coburn husband dies before 1880.
5) She is remembered as Catherine Coburn and when the story is retold Levi L Queen married Catherine Coburn in 1802.

I am wondering if anyone has any info on a Coburn marrying a Catherine Queen or Catherine Lowther around 1850. Is there a Coburn in the 1860 or 1870 census that has a wife named Catherine?

Thoughts?

I am trying to get information to Dave Taylor who made an inquiry in August 1999. I emailed him but it came back.

I emailed the following:

James Morrison, Jr. was my ggg-grandfather. Elizabeth Bozarth married him after her first husband, Uriah Fornaish died. After James died, she married Andrew Pickens. I bought a book, " "The People of Vandalia Community Lewis County, W. Va." by Sam W. Hardman & W. H. Peterson from Hackers Creek Pioneer Descendants Library of which I am a member. Yes, it does have informatiion on these families. It is a very good book. you can also get a cemetery listing of the Vandalia Cemetery where alot of them are buried. We were there last summer. My gg-randfather was John: his son David was my gg-grandfather and his son Edward was my grandfather. My gg-grandfather was a brother to David that married Helen Shreves and Hannah Powers. I have more information.

I have an old picture of my grandfather Edward and Grandma Vernie (Cummings), a picture of my grandfather and his brother Sam. I found alot of pictures in my grandma's trunk but nothing is written on them so I don't know if they are Morrison's or Cummings.

I am willing to share information with you.

Loretta (Morrison)

Does anyone else have information?
