Hi

Can anyone help me. During an online book search on google I found this book on the Anti Saloon League 1929 Yearbook
It stated that George William Sherar was International Guard does anyone know what this means?

George William Sherar was very high up in the International Order of Good Templars here in New South Wales, Australia from 1889 till 1939 and went to several big events in America and England such as the International Supreme Lodge Sessions and The Anti Saloon League Sessions he gave speeches at these events. I am in the progress of sorting through pages of information I have collected from the The Australian Temperance World Journals but it does'nt explain what International Guard means'

Can someone help?? If you can please email me at donnarthur@hotmail.com

Donna

Boslov

My father told me that he was born, in 1880, in Boslov -- now Ukraine-- then part of Russia. It is (or was) a small town about 25 - 30 kilometers north of Tulchin--which was a larger city. Is there any connection with the Boslover Beneficial Association, or does Boslover refer to some other city in Europe?

Harry Urkowitz

Is anyone familiar with an organization called the Alliance Marquette? I believe it may have been a social group for those of French or French-Canadian background. My greatgrandfather's funeral was under the auspices of this group in 1917 in Saginaw, MI. There were probably chapters in other cities as well. any info appreciated.

Looking for anyone who had relatives who belonged to Boslover Beneficial Association in Philadelphia. My grandfather Morris Yacknitz was the president sometime in the 1930s and was honored by them. He built their building at 5th and Erie sometime in the 30s maybe.

I have looked all over for the Yacknitz name coming to America and can't find it until the 1920 census - not even sure this is really the original name.

Thank you

Does anyone know of an organization and/or lodge that was active in Ilinois in the late 1800s in which members were photographed wearing stocking caps? Also, what is the fraternal organization that has Woodsmen in the title? He appears to be wearing a medal with initials of I, F, or S, then G or C, and then T. The border around the photograph has embossed roses which might, or might not, be significant.
