Classification: Query
William O. Hughes, Private, 43rd Georgia Infantry, Company E, Kellogg Rifles. He joined on 3-10-1862 and was captured and paroled in Vicksburg on 7-3/4-1863. He last answered roll call on 4-30-1864 in Kennesaw, GA. Notation in record "No later record".

What did it mean when the 43rd was paroled? Did they simply turn over their arms and make their way to Chattanooga from Vicksburg and reform the unit?

When the service record says "No later record" does that mean that the individual no longer served in the conflict after that date or that there is simply no more records of roll calls?
