Surnames: Keys, Lay, Mccarey, Hector, Knox, Thompson
I am looking for ancestors of Col. Robert Anderson Thompson. He was born 6/13/1828 & died 8/7/1914. He signed the secession paper odf SC & received a presidential pardon from Andrew Johnson. Also, is Col. R.A. Thompson related to Robert Anderson? Walhalla/Anderson area

Archalaus Lay b: 1/8/1837 d:6/24/1904 Walhalla/Anderson area
James McCarey b: Abt. 1823 d:12/28/1888 Charleston & Walhalla/Anderson area
Elizabeth Hector born in or migrated from Aberdeen, Scotland d: 1879 Walhalla/Anderson
Reddick Knox b: Abt 1791 d: 1858 ( I have traced this line to Pitt Co. NC from Wayne Co. GA. I would like to know if these Knoxes are connected to those in the Pendleton area.)
