From the Castlegar News. Jack Nichvalodoff of Castlegar, BC passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the age of 78 years. Jack was born in Pass Creek, BC., to parents Jack and Mary Nichvalodoff on Oct.13,1929. He married Lola Bonderoff on Dec.27th, 1953 and after living for a short time in Pass Creek, they moved to Kinnaird where they raised two sons and two daughters and have lived until Jack's passing. In his younger days, Jack worked various construction jobs until he got a Millwright's position at Celgar, where he stayed until he retired 18 years ago, in 1990. He was also very proud to have served his community as a volunteer fireman for 25 years. Jack was lifetime member of the USCC. He enjoyed many years of singing in the Doukhobour Cultural Choir, was active in the Psalmist's Group and assisted with many traditional Doukhobour funeral services. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Nick and sister-in-law Pasty Nichvalodoff, sister Mary Nichvalodoff, and sister Polly and brother-in-law George Deikoff. Left to mourn his loss is his loving wife of 54 years, Lola, son Greg (Karen) Nichvalodoff, daughter Debbie (Les) Gyurkovits, 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services were held at the Brilliant Cultural Centre on Friday on Friday, June 20, 2008 form 10:00am until 12:00 Noon, followed by cremation. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in Jack's memory my be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 908 Rossland Ave. Trail ,BC, V1R-3N6
