Classification: Query
Surnames: Mortimer, Esovoloff, Voykin
Grace passed away peacefully into God's eternal kingdom on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Talarico Place, after a long battle with cancer, at the age of 69 years.
Grace was born in Thrums on May 6, 1939 to parents Fred and Tiny Esovoloff; she was the second youngest of four children, two older brothers and one younger brother.
In Trail, in the early 1960's, she met the love of her life Alex Mortimer, and they were married in 1964. After living in New Westminister, for about 12 years, where Grace worked with severely challenged children, she and Al moved to Shoreacres. She worked as a nurse's aide at the Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson, and after she retired she loved going camping, playing scrabble and going to various restaurants. Grace was also a proud member of South Slocan Women's Hospital Auxiliary.
Her beloved husband Al, her parents and both of her older brothers Elie and Fred, as well as her sister-in-law Gladys Esovoloff predecease her.
Grace is survived by her brother Mike (Olga) Esovoloff, sister-in-law Polly Esovoloff, numerous nieces and nephews and many great friends.
Funeral services were held at Castlegar Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 from 10:00 am. until 12:00 Noon followed by interment at the Shoreacres Cemetery.
May she enjoy God's Heavenly Kingdom as much as she enjoyed life on earth.
Funeral arrangements were in care of Castlegar Funeral Chapel.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lesperance, Dr. Merritt and the staff at Talarico Place for the wonderful care given to Grace. Thank you to the staff at Castlegar Funeral Chapel for their excellent service, to Nat Voykin for conducting the service, the singers, the people, the Sandman Inn for an excellent luncheon and everyone that came and helped us in our time of sorrow.
May God bless you all.
