AFter I posted my message about Capt. John Cooper, a Choctaw Jew, several asked if I had a picture. The family did manage to salvage the attached photo of an unidentified Cooper, thought perhaps to be Capt. John Cooper or possibly a son. Court records show many of these Coopers had thick black hair and bright blue eyes, with rather dark skin. For comparison, I have also attached pictures of other Jews who had Indian ancestry or lived among the Indians: Jonathan Burke, David Crockett, Benjamin Perryman, and Moses Looney (LUNA--unquestionably Sephardic).
