Surnames: SORRELS, SORRELLS
My grt grt grandfather, Benjamin F. SORRELS/SORRELLS, b. 13 NOV 1836, Lexington, Holmes co., MS, d. 19 JAN 1902, Hebron community, Jackson par, LA, was an early Primitive Baptist minister in both Jackson parish & in Van Zandt co, TX for many years. I believe he pastored at Zion's Rest in Jackson parish, which I think is still an active rural church. I don't know the name of the church in TX, where he lived from 1873-1890, but he is listed as a pioneer minister in that county. Is there a central repository for early church records for this denomination in the US? I'd be interested in knowing more about where he served & whether any church minutes/records exist. Thanks for any leads. Janell
