Looking for information on Quakers in Des Moines Iowa and Adel, Dallas, Iowa in about 1900 to 1935.
I have a Robert Still, May 1875 to before 1925, who identifies himself in the 1915 Iowa census with the church affiliation "Friends" and then is living in Des Moines in the 1920 Federal Census. His wife Florence Hubler is marked as a widow in the 1925 Iowa census. Her niece Irene Hubler marries into the Shultz family, and a Shultz brother-in-law marries into the Denny family.
My (living) brother, born 1928, remembers his grandmother, Kansas Lily Wisner Denny, taking him to pacifist Quaker meetings as a little boy. He left Iowa about 1935; Lily dies in 1936.
Barton Denny, brother of Charles Denny, husband of Lily, was the minister of a Church of Christ in Des Moines, and Charles was a professor at Drake University, also affiliated with the Church of Christ.
So I would like to know what sort of meetings were available in Adel around 1915 and what was going on in Des Moines around 1920 to 1935. Or any other information, I am very ignorant here.
