Hello,
I have a number of Quaker lines in my genealogy. The first to arrive in America was the Ong family, spelled "Onge" in Lavenham, Suffolk County, England, where the Ong family originated. They arrived in Boston and settled in what became Watertown in 1630. My question is when did the Quaker sect originate? Was it before or after 1630? I am not certain as to whether the Ongs could have been Quakers when they arrived, or did they convert when the new religion started? Thanks for any help with a date,
Janice
