Researching Apprenticeships
Hello all,
In the biography of one of my ancestor's sons I found the following nugget:
"At the age of fourteen John Iveson was apprenticed to a merchant at Ferry Bridge, to serve seven years, but after remaining there five years ran away, going to London, where he learned the cabinetmaker's and joiner's trade."
Based on other research I know that John Iveson was from Haslingden, but I have no idea where "Ferry Bridge" is/was. I do know that he indeed worked most of his life as a "Carpenter." He immigrated to the United States in 1817.
I was hoping that someone much more knowledgeable than myself could point me in the right direction of what records may be available relating to this. The time period would be about 1804. What would be the best method for me to pursue this being that I am in the United States?
Thanks so much for any help!
