Hello..

I've found some fascinating information on one of the ancestors I'm researching. I'm learning to validate my sources, but the notes here have stumped me.

Can someone explain how I can validate some of this information?

I tried to search on the LDS call number but had no luck.

Also, searching news articles always seems to pull up any article with the word 'miles' in it!

==========

BIO:Manoah Miles was the son of David Miles and Rachel Lewis both of whom
died in Jefferson County, Indiana in 1833 during a cholera epidemic.
In th LDS files call# 0599055, Lois Myer has Manoah born in Shelby Co,
Ky. but other sources say Franklin Co.
On August 31, 1893 in the"Russell Record" of Russell, Kansas the fol-
lowing is found..."Death of Manoah Miles."
"Manoah Miles, one of our oldest citizens, died about noon last Fri-
day, aged 75 years and 2 months. His health has been growing feeble for
some time and his daeth was not unexpected. Mr. Miles was held in
great respect by the community. He was a man of strict integrity of
character, well informed upon all general subjects, and possessed a
large amount of scientific and mechanical skill. for some years his
attention has been turned to inventions, one of which he had watched
out to a successful result. He had given a good deal of thought to
canal navigation and had clearer and more practical ideas on that sub-
ject then we ever heard from any other person or source. If he had
possessed plenty of means, and been granted a few more years of life
he might have solved that problem.
Mr. Miles was born in Kentucky 6/25/1818. He lived some years in
Indiana and moved from there to Missouri. he came to Russell in 1874.
The funeral services were held in the Congregational Church. Sermon by
Reverand L.G. Housel. Testament 2nd Corinthians 5th Chapter 8th Verse.
