Thanks for that suggestion. Unfortunately, I don't have his real date of birth. I only know it was after 23 Jul 1927, when his parents got married. I believe it was the 25 Oct 1927 but I sent to Detroit for a search for that date (in fact, I've sent for a few searches) and they said my information didn't match exactly any birth record on file. Of course, they didn't find the marriage record for 3 tries so I'm not surprised. Not until I was able to tell them the exact book and page to look on (thanks to an LDS microfilm of the marriage index) did THEY find it. But as far as I know, Detroit doesn't release any info. on births until 100 years afterwards. (I wonder if they release an index before that length of time? I'll have to see. Not many people knew they released the marriage index for marriages up to 1937.)

I wish the SSA would search without the exact DOB. I DO know his parents and his mother's maiden name, and all that.

Well, anyway, thanks again for helping.
Jo
