in stream control. bridges and walkways. The
project was performed by WPA enrollees and supervised
by Mrs. (Jean)MacDonald's father in the 1930s.
Other than offering this information, we are interested
in knowing why this project was selected and what were
the cost and benefits thereof.

Were records (names) not kept of who was in the WPA project?
I believe my father was part of a project, but have not been able to determine where. He was exempt from the regular army, but spoke of "being a cook in the army" and I suspect he was referring to the CCC/WPA program.

I am looking for information on a James Campbell born in PA. He is my gggrandfather Married a Louise Hazlett. They had a son Robert E. Campbell born 24 Sep 1830 in Westmoreland PA.and he married Eliza Catherine Stearns.

Maryland WPA

Julianna: I notice that you do not list any
WPA projects in Maryland at all. Although, it
is a bit difficult to gain access, there is a
wonderful index at the Baltimore City Archives
created by the WPA. This project indexed all
names that were mentioned in correspondence
to the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore from
roughly 1790 to about 1920. Documents include
letters, petitions, permits, some ship lists,
legistlative acts, councilmen, election returns
etc. I found a treasure trove about my ancestor
who was a local politician during the Civil
War. There are many cubic feet of records.

I know of no efforts to place this index on
line, as a matter of fact, it is currently
housed in deplorable conditions and takes
a major effort to get an appointment to
use it, but well worth the work.

Montana - Ft. Peck Dam

Does anyone know if the Ft. Peck Dam project was part of the WPA? My grandfather was working on that when my father was born in Glasgow, Montana in February 29, 1936.

Looking for family of Allen, father worked WPA around that time. 4 children taken to Kent County Juvenile home. Youngest put out for adoption shortly after from the home in Grand Rapids. Don't know father's first name. Grandmother (his mother?) lived with us it seemed like always. Oldest son was in navy, don't know what happened to other son. The oldest daughter was last known to migrate to Ft. Worth, TX probably about 1951 or 52?

WPA did a wonderful job in Mi. Planted beach (dune) grass in the sandy areas, also red and scotch pine. had a main base at camp grayling.also restored streams. dug new ditches with shovels, and built country bridges.
