Do you still have Noble Reunions? I am related to Nobles from KY, I do not know if they are the same line. My great grandfather was John W Noble (sometimes referred to as Will or William). His sibs that I am aware of are at least Charles and Mary Noble Eggleston. John was born in Boone County, KY on Nov 2 1879 and died in Clark County, OH on Feb 15, 1957. He married Nevada Sarah Wiley. I don't have a whole lot more yet, but am working on it.

Solomon b. bet. 1805-1813 in KY and Drusilla had a son named Spencer b.abt. 1845 who m. (1) Amanda Staton and (2) Christena. One of Spencer's brothers was George Washington Blevins b. Aug. 15, 1855 who m. (1) Cynthia Rowe and (2) Bettie Brown. My husband descends from George and Cynthia.

The annual Cardwell-Johnson Reunion will be held on Saturday, August 8th at the Morgantown(Charles Black)City Park in Morgantown, KY. We usually start gathering in around 10 and have a bountiful potluck dinner at noon. Someone usually brings out the guitars after dinner and gets the singing started. Some venture on and play games, share genealogy info and pictures, and some just enjoy visiting. Friends and family of the late Cleat and Goldie Johnson Cardwell are urged to attend. It's time again for the Cardwell-Johnson Reunion. It will be held on Saturday, August 8th, at the Morgantown(Charles Black) City Park in Morgantown, KY, under the second pavillion on the left(the one with the little bridge in front of it). JULY 25-27, 2008, LEXINGTON, KY

The Phillip Hamman Family Association made up of descendants of Revolutionary War hero, Phillip Hamman, and his wife, Christina Cook, residents of Kentucky for over 40 years beginning in 1782, will be having its Bi-Annual Family Reunion in Lexington, Kentucky July 25-27, 2008.

Hamman/Hammond(s) cousins will be descending upon Lexington from Alabama, Arizona, California, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and, hopefully, many from all parts of Kentucky, as well as some new cousins from other states.

Headquarters for the reunion will be the Four Points Hotel by Sheraton, 1938 Stanton Way, Lexington, KY. Reservations must be made by June 30, 2008 to get the special Phillip Hamman Group Rate. Visitors may check in as early as July 23 and get the same special room rate. When you call for reservations be sure to tell them that you are part of the Hamman Reunion group and want the special group rate.

Friday, July 25, a group trip is planned to Mt. Sterling, then to Slate Creek near Jeffersonville, Montgomery County, to visit the site where Phillip Hamman and Christina Cook lived for almost 40 years, followed by a group meeting at 7:00p.m. Friday night for the sharing of newly revised family group sheets for each of Phillip and Christina’s children. Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. will be the business meeting for the election of new officers, followed by the sharing of new family history discoveries from members and guests. A highlight of the reunion is always the banquet on Saturday night. The special guest speaker at the Saturday night banquet will be Charles E. Darnell, descendant of Henry Cook, brother of Christina Cook Hamman.

The reunion is also open to all Hamman, Hammond(s), or any other variation of the spelling of that surname, even if you are not a descendant of Phillip and Christina.

Anyone who is a descendant of Phillip Hamman who is interested in becoming a member of DAR or SAR might especially want to attend this reunion. One member of the Association, Beverly Jay Martin, is a DAR Genealogy Consultant, has generously offered to help anyone who needs help with the application process. The service for Phillip Hamman has already been proven, as have the lines of each of his children, so it is a minor thing to get the papers in order for applying for membership in either organization. At the present time there are 88 descendants of Phillip Hamman in the DAR Descendants Database. Also, children from birth to age 21 can become members of CAR, Children of the American Revolution. The Phillip Hamman Chapter of CAR, located in Jackson, Breathitt County, KY, was named for our ancestor. James Bach Strohmeier, a former president of the Phillip Hamman Family Association, is now serving as its Senior Advisor/Sponsor. He would love to have some additions to his chapter.

This is only the fourth time in the 37 year history of the Phillip Hamman Family Association that the reunion has been held in Kentucky. The previous Kentucky based reunions were in Louisville in 1974, and in Lexington in 1982 and 1994. So, all of you Kentucky Hamman/Hammond(s) cousins might want to mark this date on your calendar and plan to attend this year’s reunion as it will probably be at least ten years before the next one will be back in Kentucky. Other reunions have been held in Chattanooga, TN; Little Rock, AR; Salt Lake City, UT; Seattle, Washington; Corinth, MS; two meetings in Oklahoma City, OK; two in Dallas, TX; two in San Francisco, CA; and four meetings in Alabama in the towns of Fort Payne, Guntersville, and twice in Huntsville.

The Phillip Hamman Family Association was formed in 1971 with the dedicated purpose of (1) gathering data about the family of Phillip and Christina Hamman and their descendants, (2) creating a giant database of information on the family to be shared by all, (3) locating the graves of all of the children of Phillip and Christina and placing markers on those that were unmarked or “poorly marked”, (4) to hold a reunion every two years, and (5) to publish a semi-annual newsletter as a means of keeping in touch with members on a regular basis. Because of the dedicated work of many Hamman cousins, all the purposes of the Association have been met, especially in the area of locating the descendants of Phillip and Christina. At the present time there are over 17,000 proven descendants who have been identified.

In recent years, the family researchers have also greatly increased their efforts to obtain information on the descendants of Valentine Cook and Anna “Susannah” Baughman, parents of Christina Cook, and the associations’s database on this family has been growing also.

Phillip and Christina Hamman’s eldest child, John Hammond, was a resident of Bloomington, Morgan County, KY, most of his married life, and his homeplace was part of Magoffin County when it was created in 1860. The Magoffin County Historical Society celebrates “Founders Day” every year during the week proceeding Labor Day and chooses one of the county’s pioneer families as its “Honored Family” for the year. They collect family history for the honored family and publish it in a book that is available for purchase from the society. The Hamman/Hammond family was chosen as the “Honored Family” in 2005 and the Phillip Hamman Family Association worked diligently with the Magoffin County Historical Society to provide as complete and accurate family history as possible. The Mgoffin County Historical Society is still getting the information on the Hamman/Hammond Family History book iready to be published , when it will become available for purchase by the public.

i have harvey b. 1851 to allenson and leanah tackett. harvey had a son robert newman with allenson's 3rd wife lydia newman's sister Rhoda. harvey later married sarah unknown and had at least 3 daughters. hope this helps.

Thanks for the information. Harvey Justice (spelled Justus on Death Certificate) was born 2/24/1850 and died 11/26/1923 in Zanesville; Muskingum Cty, Ohio. His wife Sarah "Sally" Felty Justice was born 6/15/1851 and died 8/15/1913 in Newark; Licking Cty, Ohio. Both are buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newark; Licking Cty, Ohio.

I dont remember anyone from KY being there... but there have been people from other states attend. The reunion will be held again this July if anyone is interested.

We are kind of sad today, because one of the original organizers of the Illinois reunions passed away and her funeral is tonight. We will deeply miss Patty Elmore Bartel. She was a great gal.

Do you have a given name and parents of Sister Mary Ramona Mattingly (1894)the author? I just purchased a copy of her novel from a Hardin bookstore. She is listed in the 1920 US Census in a convent, along with Josephine Logsdon (1870) as a boarder. We are related to the late Daisy Mulhall from Elizabethtown, whose mother-in-law Annie Coomes was Elizabeth Mattingly's granddaughter. Rebecca Bradley's mother was Mary Catherine Logsdon.
