Hi-I am not sure of the link to Russian nobility. I am a descendant of some Dalmasso's in northern Italy. I am having difficulty doing genealogy back beyond my grandparents, who were both born in Italy. I had been told that a distant relative was of aristocracy...but that was it.

Giuseppe Dalmasso born in Cuneo Italy and Maria Bernardi born in Busca Italy were my grandparents. Both born in late 1800's, came to California in 1913 (were actually supposed to go to Argentina, but got off ship at Ellis Island, NY). Was told my grandfather had several platinum blonde sisters (who supposedly went to Argentina).
Photo shows Giuseppe Dalmasso & Maria Bernardi Dalmasso and their two children.

Thank you.

Would appreciate any information.

Can anyone give me an idea on how his last name may have been spelled in Russia. Would love to find out about him. I don't even know if he had siblings, nor do I know his parents names. He did say he had to escape Russia during those times. Thanks for any help. Teresa

Russian Royal? - Mosolov

I live in an old house in the U.S. formerly owned by "Princess Tatiana Mosolova," (married names: Wright, Hicks), reputedly related to the Romanovs. Tatiana was born in 1896, died in 1975. I have old newpaper articles reporting her marriage to the industrialist Arthur J. Wright in 1936.

My research on the Romanov court reveals only one person by the name of Mosolov -- A.A. Mosolov, Head of the Secretariat (or Registry) of the Ministry of the Royal Court. No indication of whether he was actually nobility.

If anyone has any insight into A.A. Mosolov or Tatiana Mosolova, and whether they were related, I would be grateful to receive it. Thanks.

Seeking any information regarding the Krempien family. John Krempien was some kind of noble/official with duties possibly relating to Denmark. His daughter, Sophie (1792-1829) married Kammerherre Roger O'Ferrall in Denmark. Possible kin is Catherine Krempien who md.Gen. John Studholme Hodgson, England. Her unnamed sister was reportedly a countess. Another female Krempien was Superior of the St. Petersburg Institute for Noble Girls (Smolny Institute?) about 1826. There is
LDS IGI record
JEAN KREMPIEN Pedigree
Male
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marriages:
Spouse: SARAH NEWBURY Family
Marriage: 04 JAN 1777 British Chaplaincy, Saint Petersburg, Russia, Ussr

Not sure if this is the same John.

Bakhtin/Bachtin family

I am trying to research about my boyfriends ancestors. His grandfathers parents came from Russia, via Constantinople, to Sweden 1920. Their namnes were Wladimir and Olga Bachtin (Bakhtin). The Bakhtin family is said to be of noble origin and from the city of Orel (Orjol) south of Moscow. Wladimirs father was called Tichon Bakhtin (born around 1870) and the mothers name was Praskovia.

In the family it is said Mikhail Bakhtin (famous philosopher) was a cousin to Wladimir. Wladimir had a close friend named prince Troubetskoy (according to a newspaper article from 1921 Toubetskoys' son died 1920 or 1921, and his wife became severly ill).

I am very interested in more information about Wladimir and the Bakhtin family in general. Also it would be interesting to know more about the life for the White Russians in Constantinople around 1920.

I am searching for information on my grandparents. My grandfather, Roman Sergie, immigrated with his father (son of Prince Sergei Mentschikoff) and brother from St. Petersberg to the US I believe some time in the 1890s. I am told that my great-grandfather left with his two sons and his french mistress. My grandfather returned to Russia around 1910 and married my grandmother, Eugenia Iusipoff (I don't know how to spell it) from Moscow. Her family, I believe, was from the merchant class and they had serfs, dacha, etc. Her father was a member of the first Duma and my grandmother would tell stories of the monk with the "chaurnie" eyes who would come and sit in their parlor. My Aunt said that was Rasputen. They had 2 children (my father and Aunt) and because of my grandfather's US citizenship they could leave during the revolution which they did through Finland.

I would appreciate any information anyone might have to share.
Looking for de Galindo ancestors

During the late 19th century the originally spanish noble family de Galindo was introduced in to Russian nobility (general Eberhardt Galindo and his son). Multiple other de Galindo family members lived in St Petersburg during the beginning of the 20th century (e.g. general Theodor Galindo, Konstantin de Galindo fled the revolution to Paris, Sergei Galindo fled to Spain etc.). Getting in contact / receiving more info with any ancestors would be very intersting.

Galindo Elena Fedorovna is according to "POBEDITELI — Soldiers of the Great War" a 2nd WW veteran and might still be alive today.

Any information / practical advice appreciated

This was my paternal Grandfather's last name, but it was shortened to Steblez when they came here. I know that we are part of the Gorlenko family, and somehow related to St. Joasaph of Belgorod--but I can't find any information about the family online. Does anyone have any leads?

Is anyone familiar with this princely family. A great great aunt of mine married a prince Gudonoff who was killed during the Revolution. Her name was Marguerite Thurner (de Toronyi) who was born in Hungary, but moved to Paris, France to become an Opera singer. She first married an older Marquis de Bergerac, but after he passed she came to Russia to visit her sister and met this Prince. They married. After he was killed, the family, including his mother and sister, moved to Paris with her. Any lead would be great!

I would be most grateful if anyone could help me find out more information about my father Viktor Obolensky.
He was born in Kronshtadt (Kotlin Island) 2nd June 1920 and was the youngest of 7 children, I'm fairly certain his mother was called Anastasia was either from Chemnitz or this could have been her maiden name. Following his education in St Petersburg he made his way to the North West of England via Poland and Germany arriving as a dis-placed person in 1947. Because of his fear of being returned to Russia, he spent the first 5-10 years in the UK claiming to be Polish but told me about the origins of the family name when I was a child.
Please help if you have any clues about other members of my family.
Regards
Craig

I am looking for any information about my grandfather Eugene Ivanov (also spelled: Eugeni Ivanovich, Evgenii Ivanovich).

A Imperial Army service record of Eugeni Ivanov dated 29th January 1917 was located. According to this document, he was born on the 23rd August 1893 into a minor noble family of the Aulic Councilor of the Tomsk gubernia in Tomsk, Siberia. Before the Bolshevik revolution all officials in Russia had their own ranks, each one corresponding to a military rank. There were total of 14 ranks, from College Registrator (14th, lower than ensign) to Chancellor (1st rank, equal to general-admiral). Aulic Councilor was a civil rank corresponding to lieutenant-colonel.

As of the early 1917, he was an ensign of the 2nd Grenadier Siberian Regiment that fought on the Western Front. In May 1915 he was wounded and stayed in hospital for some time.

A search of the St Petersburg's State Historical Archive yielded nothing.

Eugeni Ivanov is also in the card-index of the White Guards. Where he served in the Middle Siberian regiment before emigrating to the United States in 1922 via Harbin, China. He supposedly served as the chief officer in charge of communications as a Lt. Colonel under the Czech General (Colonel?) Gaida (Alternate spellings: Gajda, Gaijda). When he arrived in the United States he was given an assumed Surname of 'Mirsky' because Bolsheviek sympathizers and agents routinely tried to (or rumoured to) kill higher echelon White Army officers in the USA.

Any information about the in the Tomsk gubernia officials or about Eugene Ivanov would be greatly appreciated! I am still digging but not getting anywhere fast. Unfortunately my family has had a bad case of genealogical amnesia and apathy.

Thank you in advance!

My Grandfather was born of two Russian Parents. He was born in America in Pennslyvannia. His parents came over directly in from Russia and I believe one of them was half Austrian. I have searched Ellis Island records and cannot find any links to them. I do not know his mother's maidien name either. Samuel had a brother who was living in California for a few years during the Eighties. I do not know if that man is alive. I only have an old census from the 1930's somewhere that tells a little about them. If anyone has information, please contact me. Thank you.

Von Ungern-Sternberg family

I am researching the history of Frenchs Forest cemetery [Sydney, Australia] where there is a Baroness Renata Josephine von Ungern-Sternberg [nee] buried. She was born in 1909 and died here in 2000. I would like to know her ancestry- especially if she was related to the notorious Baron Von Ungern-Sternberg who was shot in Russia in 1921.

Please reply to my personal email. Any references would be appreciated.

Beth
