Surnames: Corey, Cory
I believe you are confusing the fictional story in the movie "The Crucible" with the actual events of the Salem Village Witch Hysteria. Like the other victims Corey was accused of witchcraft however he refused to stand trial or confess and was pressed to death in an attempt to force him to plead his guilt or innocence. He may have been trying to insure that his property would not be seized and would thus be inherited by his sons-in-law.
