Hi Roberta,
I sent an email to you yesterday but it bounced so I decided to post here just so you'd know that I got the information that you sent.
It is Thomas Barnes and Mary Barnes (Mary Andrews mother)
that we think were possibly brother and sister. That is if Barnes is her maiden name. I've seen her name as Lily on other databases but I've not seen any documentation that says her maiden name is Lily. Of course I don't think I've seen any documentation that says her maiden name was Barnes either. This is all just supposition on my cousin's and my part, we really don't know.
I read a story yesterday on a website, about a man who was about 20 years old (in the 1600's) who heard of a family who'd had a baby girl, he went to see the baby and remarked to the mother that the baby was such a beautiful child that he'd marry her when she came of age and the mother replied that he would have her (or words to that effect). Maybe that's what happened in the case of Mary Andrews. Oh, by the way the man in the story did marry the beautiful child all grown up.
(I think this is a true story).
My cousin said he'd found an article in a book that said that Thomas Barnes testified against his wife. I'm going to have him show me where he found that and if so, I'll copy and send to you.
Thanks for the information you sent. I'm going to Salt Lake this week sometime and see what more I can find. Soon after Thomas' death Mary Andrews married Jacob Bronson, guess she didn't want anyone else arranging her marriages.
