Surnames: Barnes, Dickinson
I have a book, THOMAS BARNES OF HARTFORD AND FARMINGTON CONNECTICUT, BY Frederick R. Barnes. I copied it from microfilm at the LDS History Center in Salt Lake City. His wife Mary BARNES was executed as a witch and left three children, Sarah, Benjamin, and Joseph.
My great grandfather was Johnson W. Barnes, born Jan 13, 1827, Trumbull County, Fowler Twp, Ohio, migrated to Brighton, Iowa about 1850, married Julia A. Dickinson, b 12 Nov 1829 in Trumbull Co. Both their death certificates and US Federal Census indicate their parents were born in CONNECTICUT (prob Litchfield). I have family heirlooms, letters, and photos of Julia Dickinson BARNES. I am trying to make a connection to Thomas BARNES' lineage because the book indicates that of several BARNES early immigrants, he was the only one to settle in the Hartford-Farmington, CONNECTICUT area. I believe my BARNES migrated to Trumbull Co about 1812-13.
Does any of this match your info? I am very interested in anything you may have on the BARNES lineage.
