Hi, thanks for your query here is the info I have.
Liverpool steamer Richard De Larrinaga was sailing in ballast from Manchester for Galveston when it was torpedoed and sunk by U-57 15 miles SE by 0.5 miles south of Ballycotton Island,Cork Ireland. All thirtyfive lives were lost. Date 8 Oct 1917.

My grandfather was 3rd Engineer and there is a plaque to him on the WarMemorial at Tower Hill, it may be there is one for your relative. Try looking up the War Graves Commission.
