Jim, would or anyone have a list of the passengers rescued from the SS San Franicsco, Jan. 1854 and brought into the NY horbor Jan. 13, 1854. My family lore indicates by gr-greatgrandmother was aboard the SS San Francisco, her adopted parents Major george Taylor and wife Emeline perishing, and she was rescued by the Three Bells.
As you indicate, perhaps you had be a person of some importance, but I have only found a list totaling 16 passengers or crew on the Three Bells from the National Archives in Washington. And from what I have seen on the SS San Francisco, mention of women is made only in terms of wife or child.
