I've only just found out about William Ferris master of the brig John. He was from West Teignmouth, which is not far from me in Brixham in Devon. When I get the time I will be looking in Exeter which houses Devon archives to see if they have anything before taking a trip to Penzance or Falmouth, which does have a large Maritime Museum.
