Help - Ive merged several trees and find that despite doing a find duplicate person and manually correcting duplicates in FTM 2009 running with XP I have pages of duplicate person notes and research notes appearing when I try to print a family group sheet or report. When I check the notes section on my file they only appear once????

Are the Individuals duplicated, along with their Research Notes and Person Notes?

No theyre not. When viewing the tree the person notes and research notes apear to only be in ther section once. When going to the chart area to print the notes etc appear more than once. Ive tried checking the supress notes etc and exporting the entrie tree, renaming it, then exporting back into ftm 2009 but this does not make any difference.

Thank you. It sounds like they are repeated due to multiple relationships. Is that the issue?

No its only the notes area thats the problem. Ive gone through and merged all duplicate people and checked others that are not a match manually. It seems that Ill have to manually reenter all information for over a thousand people!

Please provide an example. Notes just don't get printed by them selves. People don't just get printed by them selves by Family Tree Maker.

An example may help.

Do you see a Name followed by the Notes for that person THEN the Notes are repeated just below the first set of Notes? But, on that same person, the Name is only listed once?

What I have seen / Do see, is the Name and notes listed in one place in the Report, then down the report they show up again. (Name and Notes). This would be due to multiple relationships.

OR I have see where the Name and Notes are followed by another set of Notes. Looking at the file, the notes are in the notes field twice. In this example, it was caused by a file merge years ago and I hadn't caught it before.

So, please provide an example.

My 2008 version of Family Tree Maker has become rife with duplicates. It is duplicating some of the old entrys as well as new entrys. I have un-installed,re-installed, telephoned Family Tree Maker and searched the internet for an answer. So far, I have resigned to just live with this defect.

I don't normally suggest that another user upgrade their software, but in this case, I DO suggest that you upgrade to Version 2009. Many of the problems that were present in 2008 are gone.

Can't say that I have seen the problem you reported, specifically, in 2008.

However, I do want you to clarify WHERE / HOW you are seeing the Duplicates. Are you seen the SAME Individual in the Index, on the People, Family LH Panel?
