FTM2009 - Is it Worth it Now?

There's a deal at Ancestry for FTM2009 plus the Ancestry Reference Library. Total reg. price $170 - on sale for $49.95.

I'm tempted but am not sure if FTM2009 is now stable. There were so many problems when it was first released.

Can books be printed from FTM2009 now or does it have to be done through Ancestry?

Is there anything available on FTM16 that has been taken away with FTM2009?

Can I keep FTM16 on my computer and still have FTM2009? (Currently, my FTM16 is 51.6MB)

I bought my computer last year from Dell (with Vista 32) and the C drive (OS) has 702GB free out of 916GB. That's big enough for both, right?

If it's not already obvious, let me just say it: I'm not computer-smart. (I thought my computer's memory was 4GB but the numbers are so much larger above).

Thanks,

dee

Dee,

Version 2009 is very stable. I have moved all of my work over to it. Won't go back.

It now has the Book feature that we used in Version 16 and previous versions. In fact, it will import Books from the previous version.

Please keep in mind that features were NOT taken away from previous versions as 2008 was a complete re-write of the program. Currently, there may be a feature or two that are not yet in Version 2009. I can only think of one or two, but the new features of 2009, to me, outweigh what hasn't made it yet.

I continue to have Version 16 on my computer, so that I can update my Family Tree Maker User Home Page.

Your computer should to well.

Russ

In a word,yes.
I just installed 2009 3 weeks ago.No problems.
I still use FTM 16 for friends files and again no problems.
