I just spent 3 weeks entering data from a comunity history book into a tree. There are alternate spellings for many names and towns. I want to include these alternates when I merge the source file created from the book into my master tree. How do I do this?

Timberhawk,
First, Back Up your Family
File
and the "book" file, then Merge the two files.
You may have to manually merge two individuals who may have alternate spellings of the names, but watch the merge process. Then check those individuals.

I did that, but I still have alternate facts that have not merged.

Timberhawk,
Please provide some more details. What did you do, exactly, what did you expect to see, and what did you saw.
Thank you,
Russ

Thanks for your help. Everything works fine. Unfortunatly, you can't fix stupid. The problem was caused by my hast, and instead of merging the new stuff, I created new people. Thus I could not see the alternate facts.
Thanks again,
Russ
