FTM 2009 troubles

I didn't want to buy FTM 2009 since I have read the various problems people are having. However, I bought a laptop which has Vista and version 16 won't work on it. I got the 2009 version, backed up the files from my old laptop onto a memory stick and tried to load it onto the new computer and new version of FTM. The message I got was "FBC files not supported for import at this time". Short of adding all 2000 names, one at a time to the new version how do I get the files from one computer to another?

Lisa,

What was the problem with Version 16 running on your Vista Laptop? Version 16 runs on my Laptop with no issues.

Version 2009 does NOT read a FBC file.

Please read the instructions here:

Russ,
I was told, don't remember who, that Version 16 would not work on Vista but did try anyway. Could not get it working so I bought 2009. I am keeping the old laptop with v16 just in case. Since I now have 2009 though can you tell me how to get my files from the old to the new so I check out the program and decide if I like it or not?

Lisa,

Just so that you know, Version 16 WILL work on a Vista PC.

You can Copy your Family File from your Old Laptop, with Version 16 (the FTW file only) and put it onto your New PC.

OR you can go to this website and follow the directions.

Russ,
Thank you. I will give it a try and see what happens. If I can't figure it (not a computer genius) I'll give another holler.
