Thanks for the reply to my post. I have not purchased a windows 7 computer. I was just trying to line up my ducks for the future. Thanks for the link. I was not aware that there was a 32 bit and a 64 bit windows 7. They don't mention the xp mode that is available in some windows 7 versions.

I have tried family tree maker 2010 and I don't like it. For one thing it takes way too long to open and it is too hard for my eyes, no matter how I change the settings.
