Good day,
I have a file that has 7600 names on it and everything I try to do with it from exporting to rtf or pdf document, or exporting to a GEDCOM I get the same message:
"The information in the specified file has been damaged and can not be used. Please revert to the backup (*.FBK) file."
Even using the backup file I get the same error. I have run the file compact utility and get the same error and have run the error test with no errors.
Can someone help please...
Thank you,
Bob

Bob,
Please go to any Family Page and run these two Utilities:
CTRL+
ALT
+C = FileCompression
CTRL+
ALT
+SHFT+UpArrow = FileChecker
Are there any Errors?

Bob,
Is this a new problem?
Please close
Family Tree Maker
, Restart your Computer, bring
Family Tree Maker
back up and see if you can do the CA+C utility.

Russ,
I have had this problem in the past and had to redo all my files, at the time over 25,000 names plus information.
So what I had done was divide it up into 2 separate files so I had 2 brand new files to work with and deleted the old one that was corrupt.
I ran the CA+C and it came back with the same error message.

Russ,
No I have no scrapbook information at all. All I have on this file is the basic information and notes...not even sources.

Bob,
I would export your file to a GEDCOM file and bring it back into a new
Family Tree Maker
file. If this goes well, which is should AND you split the file earlier, you might want to put the two files back together.

Russ,
I have tried this and it doesn't work as I get the same error message. I also tried to create a new file and then merge this file with it and still the same error message.

Bob,
Did you Export this file to a GEDCOM file, then Open that GEDCOM file in
Family Tree Maker
?
