UNABLE TO CLIP IMAGE ERRORS

Lately I have been having the subject error using FTM 2009.
It happens when I am trying to open either a census or search suggestion. As anyone ever had this type of error? if yes what is the remedy.

Maurice,

Where are you trying to open a Census Record or a Search Suggestion?

Are you talking about using the Web Search feature?

Are there error messages showing up in upper part of the Family Tree Maker Web Search screen?

What is your Default Browser? (and version)?

Hi, Russ,

I am using version 8 of Windows explorer
no errors in upper part of FTM
This error is intermittent and it does not matter where I am in FTM. It happens when I am in the Web Search and I try to open an image of a census or any other types.

Maruice,

Please give this a try:

1 Start a Web Search

2 Select the Online record you want to merge into your file

3 BEFORE you continue, in the Lower Left Panel, where the FACTs are displayed, do not click "Merge" but click the MEDIA tab

4 Wait for any media to load into that Left Window

5 Then Click "Merge"

See if that resolves this for you.

I have been getting this error for weeks on the 1901 Canadian Census which is a live link to that source. It's during a web merge with 2010 and IE8 and Vista. It is only with that paticular source for me. I just click ok and know that I will not have an image to look at later.

Chuck,

You can always go back and download that Image and link it to your Source-Citation. I suggest that when you download the image, you save it in the Media Folder and give it a filename that you can easily select when you Link to that Media Item for that specific source citation.

OK Russ

Will give it a try next time. By the way I never merge anything in my files. There is way too much garbage out there. Did you ever check One work tree? I the info does not come with a source I can check I don't even look at it.

Hello Russ,

I was just working on the 1901 Canadian census and I received the unable to clip image error. I tried clicking on the bottom of the page. On person nothing happened, on Facts nothing happened, on Media I got Error processing image request.

Maurice,

I don't use the OneWorldTree, nor any of that type of tree. I may look for hints, but will NOT merge information from one of those trees.

The only Merging I do, is Web Merges with Family Tree Maker and Ancestry.com, (subscription products).
